Trout stocked in local waterways

From staff reports

Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission workers and several volunteers placed about 3,300 fish in Justus Lake at Two Mile Run County Park on Monday.

More than 21,000 pounds of trout will be stocked in 19 Venango County streams this year, according to Mark Kerr with the Fish and Boat Commission.

The commission stocks native brook trout as well as non-native varieties like brown trout and rainbow trout, including the popular palomino large yellow rainbow trout that can survive in warmer waters for the duration of fishing season.

Trout season opens April 13.
