The Franklin-based Silver Cornet Band will begin rehearsals for its 163rd season on Monday.
Rehearsals are held from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. each Monday through May in the band room on the second floor of Franklin’s City Hall.
After Memorial Day, the weekly rehearsals will change to Wednesday evenings and will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. throughout the summer months.
The band is slated to perform seven concerts this summer in Franklin’s Bandstand Park.
The concerts start at 7:30 p.m. and will be held Thursdays, May 30, June 13, June 27, July 11, July 25, Aug. 1 and Aug. 15.
The annual Junior Silver Cornet Band concert will take place during the Thursday, June 13, concert.
The band is always looking for new members. In addition to seasoned adult musicians, the band is open to high school band students and adult musicians who haven’t played in years.
