New OC bandshell going up

Andrew Hestor (in the lift) and Darrell Stout were continuing to assemble the new bandshell in Oil City’s Justus Park on Tuesday. Work began on the bandshell Monday and is expected to wrap up Friday, said Stout, who works for Willow Playworks of Mifflinburg, the contractor assembling the bandshell. Kelly Ryen, the city’s community development director, said the new bandshell is being assembled from a kit similar to how playgrounds are assembled. Oil City public works employees demolished the old Carl S. Brozeski bandshell to make way for the new cement pad and bandshell. The old bandshell was built around the same time Justus Park was constructed, and the park and bandshell opened in 1971. (By Kara O’Neil)
