Military members to benefit via Second Harvest program

From staff reports

Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania’s Military Share Program, a produce express initiative, is expanding to Venango County.

The program distributes fresh, nutritious foods to families with at least one member who has served or is serving in the armed forces or National Guard, according to a Second Harvest news release.

The first mobile food distribution in Venango County will take place Tuesday, April 2, at 5 p.m. at the VFW in Franklin, 411 Ninth St.

Each eligible, registered family will receive fresh produce, a quart of milk, a dozen eggs, cheese and a box of shelf-stable pantry staples, such as soup, pasta, sauce and cereal.

Individuals in need of food are asked to register for the event by calling Gerry Weiss at (814) 459-3663, Ext. 120.
