Kennerdell woman charged in hit-and-run that injured boy

Franklin state police have identified a Kennerdell woman as the driver of a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run incident that injured a 10-year-old Pittsburgh boy on a dirt bike in Rockland Township early Saturday evening.

According to a criminal complaint filed by police, Angela Fiorentino, 23, was identified as the driver who struck the boy with her vehicle.

According to a news release from state police, at about 7:15 p.m. the boy, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet, was riding a dirt bike on Seneca Hemlock Road when he stopped at the stop sign and then proceeded on Kennerdell Road in an attempt to make a U-turn when he was struck.

The complaint says after striking the boy, Fiorentino failed to stop at the scene of the crash.

The boy was seriously injured and taken to UPMC Northwest, and was taken from there to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the complaint said.

Fiorentino has been charged with a felony count of accidents involving death or personal injury and a misdemeanor count of accident involving damage attended vehicle or property as well as three summary traffic violations.

She was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Patrick Lowrey.

Her preliminary hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m. June 8 before Lowrey.
