Fatherhood Initiative sets meeting for new program

The Venango Fatherhood Initiative will hold the first meeting of the 24/7 Dad: Fatherhood Program from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at the Carone Center, 29 Pearl Ave., Oil City.

The program is an eight-week workshop open to all men, and it focuses on the five concepts that cover the essentials that fathers need to know.

Any man can attend these workshops including expectant fathers, single fathers or grandfathers who want to discuss the joys and concerns of raising children.

The workshop covers such topics as:

— Effective and appropriate discipline

— Building and maintaining healthy relationships

— Communicating effectively

— Family roles

— The importance of involved, responsible fathers

Men are encouraged to invite their wives, partners and their children. Single mothers who do not have a significant other attending the men’s group are also allowed to attend.
