Center to hold First Responders Day for kids

The Fertigs Community Center will hold a First Responders Day for kids from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, May 21.

The purpose of this family-friendly event is to highlight the importance of first responders to children and show how they benefit the community.

Youths will have an opportunity to meet and recognize local first responders and view demonstrations.

Participating in this event will be fire departments from Pinegrove Township, Seneca, and Cornplanter Township; EMT and ambulance crews from Community Ambulance Service and Knox Area Volunteer Ambulance Co.; and police departments from Oil City, Franklin, the Venango County sheriff’s office, and the Pennsylvania State Police (Clarion County).

Also featured will be the K-9 Response Search Team West Division and LifeFlight, which will have a helicopter on display.

State Sen. Scott Hutchinson will attend, and he, along with Boy Scout Troop 111, will conduct a short opening ceremony.

Cranberry Area Lions Club and Cranberry Area Little League will sell food and drinks. Bake sale items will be sold by the Fertigs United Methodist Charge and the Boy Scouts of Troop 111.

Treat bags and snow cones will be given out as supplies last.

There is no charge for this event and no registration is required.

The Fertigs Community Center is located at 4887 Camp Coffman Road, Venus.
