PPC Network gets $20,000 grant

PPC Violence Free Network, a program under Family Service & Children’s Aid Society, received a $20,000 grant through the Mary Kay Foundation.

More than 1,100 domestic violence shelters from across the country applied for the shelter grants.

The money will be used by PPC Violence Free Network to further the organization’s efforts to combat domestic violence and provide rehabilitation services throughout Venango County.

One in three women have experienced some form of physical violence by an intimate partner and one in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, with 90% of these children witnessing this violence, according to the National Coalition to End Domestic Violence.

From July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019, PPC Violence Free Network provided shelter to 52 adults and children who were experiencing domestic violence.

This means that 2,087 nights of a safe place to sleep were provided as well as 6,261 meals for those individuals.

PPC Violence Free Network will use the $20,000 to provide critical support to meet the everyday needs of individuals staying in its shelter in order to help them focus on safety, options, and regaining the power that was taken from them as a result of abuse.

PPC Violence Free Network not only serves victims of domestic violence but also sexual violence and other serious crimes. Its mission is to work to prevent violence, protect victims, and advocate for change in attitudes about victimization by providing prevention education programs, supportive services, and by promoting social change in the community.
