OC man jailed on robbery, other charges

From staff reports

An Oil City man was jailed Friday on robbery and other charges in connection with an incident Monday at a Lincoln Street home.

A criminal complaint filed by Oil City police said Jason Vanwormer, 18, and another man entered the home in the 200 block of Lincoln Street and pointed a gun at a woman who lived there.

The two men fled through the fire escape door before Oil City police arrived, the complaint said.

Vanwormer was charged with felony counts of robbery, burglary, criminal trespass and three counts of conspiracy, and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, theft and related conspiracy charges.

He was placed in the Venango County jail with bail set at $50,000.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, in Central Court.
