OC man facing several charges for domestic incidents

An Oil City man is facing numerous charges, including attempted rape, in connection with multiple domestic incidents this month.

A criminal complaint said 33-year-old Kris Stahlman II followed his wife, who he is separated from, on various occasions between the beginning of the month and Sunday.

On Oct. 23, Stahlman followed his wife to a degree where Oil City police had to respond several times, the complaint said.

On a different occasion, Stahlman approached his wife inside a North Side bar and used lewd language directed toward her until she eventually felt the need to flee the area for her safety, the complaint said.

Stahlman followed his wife by vehicle to her home and continued to berate her once inside, the complaint said.

After going into the bedroom, Stahlman stripped in front of her, climbed on top of her and removed her pajama pants by force, the complaint said.

Stahlman’s wife struggled with him until she was able to break free and she demanded that he leave several times, ultimately ending with her physically forcing him from the residence, the complaint said.

She told police Stahlman entered her home without permission 10 times and, on three occasions, she had to physically force him out, the complaint said.

Stahlman approached his wife on Sunday at another North Side location and questioned her about her activities, the complaint said.

She eventually got to the point where she needed to leave and she did not return home for the night because she feared for her safety, the complaint said.

During the morning hours, Stahlman entered his wife’s home again while their child was inside and began the same type of verbal assault, the complaint said.

He then followed her into the bathroom and continued as she showered before work, the complaint said.

Stahlman’s wife eventually reached out to Oil City police because she feared her husband’s actions might someday result in her death, the complaint said.

Charges filed against Stahlman include three misdemeanor counts each of stalking, simple assault, harassment and defiant trespass, in addition to a first-degree felony count of criminal attempt – rape forcible compulsion and a second-degree felony count of criminal attempt – sexual assault.

He was arraigned Sunday before Kirtland and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.

A preliminary hearing has been tentatively scheduled for Dec. 7 in Venango County Central Court.
