OC man accused of fleeing from police

From staff reports

An Oil City man is facing charges for fleeing from police in his vehicle.

Oil City police said in a criminal complaint they were notified Jan. 12 that Todd Shull, 44, who is known to officers from prior law enforcement related matters and who is wanted by Oil City police, was driving a pickup truck in Oil City.

Police said they located Shull in the pickup on East Second Street and activated their lights and sirens, but Shull continued onto Route 257. Instead of pulling over, Shull accelerated his vehicle and continued on Route 257, passing other vehicles at a high rate of speed, the complaint said.

Police said they ceased pursuit due to traffic patterns in the area and other vehicles on the road.

Shull was eventually picked up and arraigned, and he was charged with a felony count of fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, a misdemeanor count of flight to avoid apprehension/trial/punishment and a summary count of reckless driving.

He was placed in the Venango County jail after failing to post bail, and his preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in Central Court.
