Fire destroys home in Victory Township

A Victory Township family escaped injury from a fire that destroyed their home Thursday.

Clintonville Fire Department Chief Grant Rea said the blaze occurred at 216 Sandstone Lane, off Old Route 8 at about 2:45 p.m.

Rea said a mother and four children were able to make it outside of the two-story home safely, while the father arrived soon after the fire started.

Rea said the couple are members of his volunteer fire department.

The family was displaced from their home, but they will be staying with relatives, Rea said.

“We did save one section of the house, but it has water and smoke damage,” Rea said.

Rea said anyone interested in making a donation to the family can call him at (724) 992-8493.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, according to the chief.

Community Ambulance Services, and Clintonville, Sandycreek, Emlenton, Rockland, Utica, Polk, Rocky Grove, Kennerdell, Pine, Marion, Harrisville, Grove City, Sandy Lake and Jackson Center volunteer fire departments responded, Rea said.

The scene was cleared in about six hours, Venango County 911 said.
