Cranberry will seek funds for 2 projects

Cranberry Township intends to ask Venango County officials for some funds to help offset costs on two construction projects.

The supervisors voted at a meeting Thursday to request $30,000 in Liquid Fuels monies to help pay for milling and paving a township-owned road that serves as the entranceway to the UPMC Northwest hospital.

The full cost is $147,194 for the work that will be done next year.

In the second request, the township is asking for $13,000 for repair work done on the Aires Hill bridge. The total cost for that project was pegged at $72,100 which the township paid.

“A little bit of help would be nice,” township manager Chad Findlay said.

The supervisors voted to spend $900 for Gibbons Web Services of Franklin to update and redesign the township’s website. The last update, said Findlay, was done about seven years ago.

The panel also agreed to have township crews install a Children-at-Play sign in the 700 block of Meadow Church Road. A homeowner there asked for the new sign as a precaution for drivers.

The property owner will pay for the cost of the sign.

“The township puts it up, they buy the sign,” said Findlay. “We’ve done lots of those before.”
