Cranberry eyes paving projects

Township manager Chad Findlay said the proposed projects include Fairfield Drive, which leads up to and encircles UPMC Northwest; the entirety of Allegheny Avenue; and Kimberly Lane and Ross and Regina drives by Walmart.

Aside from milling and repaving the roads, the work heading to bid also includes pipe replacement, inlet adjustments, concrete curb replacement and pavement markings.

In other business at Thursday’s brief meeting, Findlay told the supervisors he took part in a Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors meeting in which ways to use funds supplied by the American Rescue Plan were discussed.

Findlay said Cranberry Township will receive $617,233 over 2021 and 2022. He said the supervisors haven’t decided how to use the money.

Findlay also said he was looking at Kenworth trucks recently for the township. Funds have been budgeted for a new vehicle.

“We’re a little late but COVID has put us behind,” Findlay said.

Supervisors also approved a report detailing various township expenditures totaling $106,029.92.
